April 2010

Black Crusader

The month of April has arrived and Global Trucking is starting it's eighth month featuring one of the sharpest Freightliners over one million km's on New Zealands. Infact after 1.7 million km's the crew at STL Linehaul decided to reward Black Crusaders driver Darrell by giving the old girl a repaint and new signage.

The paint was applied by Bairds Collision Centre in Hornby, Christchurch and the Signwriting was done by the team at Timaru Signs and Graphix with Global Trucking member Andrew Geddes putting in some long days to get the big FLB looking fantastic!

Darrell who has been with STL Linehaul now for 4 years has added his personal touch to Black Crusader adding a customised steering wheel and alot of extras on the dash including LED lighting in the gauges. The huge 110 inch cab of the Freightliner is kept spotless inside and now has the paintjob and signage to make it complete on the outside although Darrell does have a few more ideas up his sleeve aparently.

Darrell started work on Stocktrucks driving for Topps Contractors in North Canterbury and has also been an Owner driver for Toll Tranzlink over the years where he also had Freightliners.

This 1997 Freightliner FLB has a 500 horsepower Cummins engine and a 18 speed Roadranger box. It started out life with Halls Transport in the old brown colour but after travelling New Zealand roads for 1.7 Million km's i'm sure you would agree Black Crusader is looking better than ever and a real credit to driver Darrell and STL Linehaul.
