Jade Legacy

Written by Jonathan Dyck

Jade was founded in 1969 by my Grand Parents, Jake and Amy Dyck. They started by hauling Heating Oils, Roofing Tar and Asphalt. In 1984 my parents, Larry and Kim bought them out and started a Cattle Hauling division which lasted a few years. By the late 80's my dad had taken on a partner named Greg Arndt. About this time they phased out the Cattle Division and dove head long into Chemical Hauling. Thats the major part of our business now but we also haul food grade liquids and Tar. Jade Transport provides service to all of Canada and the lower 48 and Alaska in the U.S.A.

My truck is a 2007 Peterbilt 379 Legacy #109 of the 1000 built. It rides on a 280" wheelbase, has a 625hp CAT, 18 speed and 3.36's. It rides on a car hauler chassis with a 5.5" drop front axle and 24.5's. Custom work has been fairly extensive even if it doesn't look like it from a distance.

The fenders are all Shift Products carbon fibre, the unibilt air-ride has been relocated under the sleeper to clean up the back wall of the sleeper. The steps are stainless steel by Sheild Truck Accessories. All of the side skirts, scallops under the frame, rear light bar, deck plating and aluminium work is done by our in-house team. The fifth wheel is a polished aluminium Holland hitch. I'm using an 11" Midwest Bow Tie Visor. My headlights are from my dads '87 359 Pete. he didn't want them anymore and I thought they'd look good on a 379. The frame is smoothed and shaved of all the factory markings. I really wanted to get a smooth, elegant and classy look. The truck should look right at home parked infront of a theatre with the big Bentleys and benz's. SOmetimes less is more and I believe this is one of those times. There are lots of unique features on this truck that bring a fresh look to the very popular and traditional 379.

I would personally like to thank Jonathan for writing this article for me and supplying me with some photos. I was lucky enough to get a photo of this truck at the 2009 Rodeo Du Camion which I have included.
