Black Stallion - The Showstopper!
The Black Stallion, say the name in New Zealand Trucking circles and everyone knows which truck you're talking about. To me this Kenworth is the modern day "Concorde".
Now I hear you say "thats a big statement" (or somethingelse that I can't print) but this 1993 T950 Kenworth (which I might add was the first T950 Kenworth ever made) has won more prizes at Truckshows in New Zealand than perhaps any other truck in this country's history!
It started it's life on New Zealand roads in the company colours of Bruce Porter in Mount Maunganui towing a five axle B-Train tanker trailer (Photo #1).
Shane Pearson purchased Black Stallion in 2002 and she was put in the colours of STL Linehaul LTD. Shane has recently given it the "Pimp my Ride" treatment to make Black Stallion a real "head-turner" bringing the stacks forward from behind the sleeper changing them to 8 inch Mitre Cuts.
Other changes among the many include extra lights being added, new scroll work and touching up signage, new checker plating, black mudflaps, a new mural on the rear of the cab, a fantastic new rear lightbar, new air intakes and bug deflector. Inside a new stereo has been installed but the interior itself is all original and in great condition.
Shane also informs me that he's uprated the Cummins powered engine to 500 Horsepower.
The look Black Stallion now has is modern yet keeping it's T950 features and with 2.8 million Km's on the clock I'm sure you'd agree this Kenworth T950 is more than deserving of all the accolades and prizes it's received which is due to the dedication and passion Shane Pearson has for this truck.
I'd like to personally thank Shane for giving me permission to feature his Kenworth for this months Global Trucking feature.
