Drive Loud Drive Proud !

Written by David Kinch

Just recently I made my first trip to Melbourne to take some Truck Photos and while I was there I met up with Troy Webber who owns a very cool 1979 K125 Kenworth. Troy's Kenworth was built in September of 1979 and was orginally owned by Cootes Tanker Services. Out of the factory it ran a 692 Detriot engine with a single stack, air cleaners up the back and had one tank each side.

Troy is the fifth (and very proud) owner of the K125 which he bought off a good mate as knew it was looked after and has now owned her for six and a half years. It has had some changes made over the years with a 400 horsepower big cam Cummins engine replacing the 692, a thirteen speed double over gearbox installed and is run on Kenworth eight bag suspension under the drivers. The rear of the cab is also on air suspension, it has chrome wheels on the drivers with the air cleaners now on top of the cab and six inch stacks up the back of the cab.

As we waited for Troy to arrive for the photoshoot I started to hear a faint sound in the distance...a truck..not just any truck it was the K125 gearing down coming up to the roundabout near our location and that fantastic sound of Jake Brakes! Troy is now 34 years of age he was born in Palmerston North, New Zealand and moved to Australia at the age of 5. He started driving Trucks when he was 18 years old in a UD Nissan with "P" Plates displayed in the window (same as our Restricted in NZ), he then moved to a Scania, a Kenworth S.A.R and the he bought his K125 Kenworth which he hopes repaint in the same old school colours in the next 18 months - 2 years and get her up to show standard (Troy's words not mine).

Checkout a video of Troys Kenworth I took while we were in Melbourne..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZJweYagWaU

I'd like to thank Troy for all his help with this article and for parking his very impressive K125 Kenworth up for us.
