Tasmanian Pete

Global Trucking has certainly scored one hot feature for the month of February. This jaw dropping Peterbilt logger is owned by CA and KL Green from Mole Creek Tasmania and driven by Grant Scott who has driven the Pete since it went on the road.
Craig and Kim run five log trucks including two Peterbilts (a 378 and a 379), two Kenworths (a C500 and a C501) and a 4900EX Western Star.
The Peterbilt that we are featuring is the 379 EXHD which was built in July 2005 in Denton Texas and shipped to Sydney Australia where it was converted to right hand drive, painted and it was then delivered to Craig in January 2006.

The Pete has a ISX 565 Cummins EGR engine with a 18 speed box, 46/160 diffs with a 4.11 diff ratio and air track suspension. It has full cross locks (not hub reduction as some might suspect).

Alot of the Chrome and Stainless is imported from the USA mainly from Larry Dorsett at www.cowboychromeshop.com . The big 8" drainpipe stacks are complemented nicely by the Roadworks 13.5" drop visor. All the outside door trim was also done by Roadworks.

The Trailer is a 1986 Chivers Jinker and Grant loads 42.500KG on board to give him a 28.30KG Payload. He pedals the big Pete into Longreach, which is in the Tamer River in the north of the state of Tasmania. Grant also hauls loads out of the north/ north west coast  and sometimes in the central highlands in the Lake river area.
The Pete mainly carts plantation logs, old growth logs, woodchip logs and peeler logs.

Being a logger Grant spends about 5 to 6 hours every weekend cleaning the Pete after travelling in and out of skid sites all week.
It's obvious Grant looks after Craig and Kims truck very well and the truck is a credit to him as a operator.
I'd like to say thank you to Grant for supplying the photos and information for this feature.
